Asalaamu alaykum
I came back from a mosque today where I prayed maghrib salah and it was very disappointing to see that even on a FRIDAY EVENING, there were less than 10 people in the jam'aah.
I could go on and on and on and on and on and on about this but I won't: if you and I do not keep up our 5 daily prayers, our tragic global state won't change. It's as simple as that.
Sayidinna Umar ibn al-Khattab (radi Allahu anhu) wrote a letter to all his viziers once and in it he said:
"I see that the most important thing of all of our affairs is the prayer. Whoever guards it and is vigilant about it has guarded his religion. Whoever neglects it is more neglectful of everything else."
This is not some uneducated "Molvi" from the village speaking. These are the words of the Second Caliph of Islam, the 1st person after the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam) and Saydinna Abu Bakr as-Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) to be eligible for entry into Paradise. This is a man who presided over an expanding Islamic empire the likes of which the world had never seen and all on one premise: There is One God.
It would do well for us to pay attention to these words and to take them to heart.
